We use CareSync for our own families’ health records, but we do understand that you may have concerns when it comes to storing and sharing your medical information in the cloud.
CareSync is built on a secure, privacy health platform. When you create your login, you’ll be sent an email. Your account will not be created until you’ve clicked the secure link in the email.
One of the most common questions we get is: Are you HIPAA compliant? Yep. We are compliant with the regulations of the Health Information Portability and Accessibility Act, also known as HIPAA. When you make a records request, you’re required to digitally sign our medical records release form. This form gives our team permission to collect medical information on your behalf.
Unrelated to HIPAA, but closely linked to sharing information - you control who sees what in your account. Because you’ll want to share different things with different members of your care team, sharing settings have been designed in such a way that gives you control over access to the information in your account. When you do share, know that your data is transmitted securely using SSL 128-bit encryption technology, and confidential information is never displayed on the address line of browsers.
A lot of systems available sell your information. CareSync does not. In the future, you’ll have the option to anonymously share your health information, which helps research groups learn more about certain diseases and develop new treatments. However, this will always be an opt-in, and will require your explicit permission.
The servers that hold your data are located in a secure, monitored data center where computer and Internet “uptime” are 99.99% guaranteed. We back up all of your data multiple times each day. The copies are securely stored, as well.
If you’re relying on our CareSync Plus team to do the records retrieval and transcription for you, rest assured that the access to the system relies on five levels of security, and each and every piece of information entered can be traced back to the specific person who entered it. Each action is monitored for your protection. Additionally, we’ve implemented Rule-Based Access Control, which ensures that employee access to any sensitive data is prevented.
On a less technical side, and because we have nothing without your trust, each member of the records’ team goes through an extensive hiring process, and is trained in not just the processes, rules and regulations, but also on our high standards and expectations for quality, privacy, and security. Our employees sign the same documents and forms as the people who work in doctor’s offices and hospitals.
