October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and now that I have confirmed that it does not entail a day off from work to focus on my personal mental health, I've decided to share how the latest version of CareSync helps you track how you're feeling over time, and how easy it is to share your "between visit" information with your family, caregivers, and doctors to get better care.

Tracking Your Health

Have you ever been at a doctor's appointment and your brain goes completely blank about all of the things you wanted to talk about? Raises hand. Have you wanted to better explain how you've been feeling over time, but can't really share the timeline of your symptoms? Raises hand.Photo_Oct_09,_8_03_29_AM.png

We've all been there, which is why CareSync added some really cool features including a journal, mood tracker, and a pain scale that make it easy to track how you're feeling every day, as opposed to how you're feeling at the exact minute the doctor asks you.

Some of our fantastic members have shared their thoughts on how tracking pain, medications and other symptons with CareSync has helped them improve their experience as patients, caregivers, and providers.

"I've always been a fan of keeping a journal. For years, I've kept a digital journal of my thoughts, how I've slept, and how I feel in general. The newest version of CareSync is like my notebook, super-charged. I've made a daily routine, each night before bed, of documenting how I am feeling on the scale of one to ten, and just jotting down a quick note about the day."

"I live 800 miles away from my elderly father. He's not particularly tech-savvy, but he rates his pain, checks off when he takes his meds, and chooses his mood from the smiley faces. It is an indication of how his day is going, and I have a better idea of when he might need a little pick-me-up."

"I've suffered from a chronic condition, as well as minor depression for as long as I can remember. I try to journal every day, but often get too busy, or forget. Now, even when there isn't time to add all of my thoughts, I can still check off how I am feeling and track progress (or lack thereof) over time. Sharing it with my doctor helps us manage my medications and other treatment plans."

"I've been going through a bit of a stressful stage in my life, and it's been really convenient to have a single place to track my back pain, how I'm feeling, how my work day was, and what I did. It's amazing to see how much better I feel the days I do simple things like 30 minutes of walking in the sunshine, taking a yoga class, or just meeting my friends out for happy hour. It really is the little things."

"I struggled for years to get a diagnosis. I kept a spreadsheet of data, but felt like it was hard to get my provider to take it seriously. Now that I've got day-to-day emotions layered with my actual clinical information, I feel like my doctor takes me more seriously. I realized that I probably overwhelmed him before, and now it's just easier to see the big picture."

"I love my proactive patients, but it's impossible for me to go through every single piece of tracked data from countless applications. Recently, I had a patient pull up their tracked data on CareSync, and it made it so much easier to get the snapshot of the trends, without wading through pages and pages of data. Brilliant."

"Our life has been incredibly hectic since our daughter was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She enters in how she's feeling by simply choosing one of the mood "faces," and my husband and I can supplement with notes from the day."

"As I tracked how I felt every day, I realized that the days I got > 7 hours of sleep, I felt great. Sleep deprivation has an immediate and dramatic effect on how I am able to handle things during the day."

Well, there you have it. Tracking health, fitness, and overall emotions is an incredibly powerful way to look at your health. Whether you're seeking a diagnosis, managing a chronic condition, or helping a loved one with their care, it becomes exponentially easier to track trends, and compare these emotions next to other health information, such as medications taken, vitals, and fitness.

The best part? You can get started with CareSync in just a couple of minutes, and the app is free to download and use!
