Help for a Member Struggling With Depression

When she lost someone she loved, she didn't even want to leave the house anymore. Luckily, she had someone who cared.

A member told one of our health assistants that she was struggling with depression following the death of her son. The loss was so overwhelming, she closed herself off to the outside world and had been a recluse for two years.

The health assistant explained how important it was to the member's physical and mental health to get out of the house and experience life again. The member was reluctant, so the health assistant took it upon herself to locate an adult activity center near the member’s home and advised and encouraged her to go. She even called the facility and got the person on the phone with the member so she would feel comfortable about what to expect when she arrived. Thankfully, she agreed to go.

Our members have the time to get out and enjoy life more.

We have since learned the member is regularly getting out of the house and finding new reasons to enjoy life more.

We are grateful to have such a caring team of individuals who will take the time to listen, think outside the box, and identify resources that can help our members.
