Money Matters: A Heart of CareSync Story

In a 2016 international survey, the percentage of adults who faced cost-related barriers to care was highest in the U.S. at 33 percent. These cost-related barriers were defined as being sick, but not visiting a doctor; skipping a medical test, treatment, or follow-up the doctor had recommended; skipping doses of medication to save money; or not filling prescriptions at all.

Shedding Light on the Dark Spaces in Healthcare

Between office visits, between different providers, or during transitions in care, patients are often navigating a fragmented healthcare system on their own. In turn, physicians miss out on vital information, having to rely on patients to tell them if they saw a different doctor, experienced an emergency, or started taking a new medication. These voids in communication, care, and guidance are often called the dark spaces in healthcare.
