How to Export Your Data From CareSync

Many of you have asked for a quick, easy way to extract your data from CareSync.  We've built a self-service option that is now available for members to use.  


If you want to export a copy of your data from CareSync, you have until November 11, 2018 to do so.  

Our servers remain and will continue to be operational, secure, with appropriate security measures, and accessible by our customers and members until November 11, 2018.  We intend to follow all applicable requirements under our agreements and applicable law regarding patient data in our possession, including, but not limited to, the secure transfer and/or ongoing maintenance and security of patient data.

What does this mean for you?

On November 11, 2018, all ePHI that is in CareSync's possession will be destroyed pursuant to the NIST SP 800-88 guidelines for Media sanitation as recommended guidance for disposal of PHI pursuant to the HIPAA Security Rule.

Follow the simple steps below to request your Data Export File:

  • Log in to your CareSync Account in a browser
  • Navigate to Health Info and click Summary
  • Look below the Summary and click the blue Request Data Export button

Once you've clicked that button, your request will go into the Pending status and is now queued up for CareSync to process.  Other statuses you may see are Processing or Available for Download.


Check back about 20 - 30 minutes later.  

Once it's available for download, you'll see the blue button again.  This time, it'll say Download.

Click that.  

A .ZIP file of your CareSync documents and Health Summary will start to download.  Depending on your security settings, you may have to click Save on your computer to save the file.

Open the .ZIP file - it will create a folder with not just your information, but any that your family members have shared with you as well.  

It's nicely organized by Member/Family Member.  Remember, you'll only see the information for family members if they've allowed you to see it in the first place.

In the case that you don't have access to all of a parent or spouse's information, it's probably wise to go through this exercise logged in as them, too.
