I recently received this story from a man I met at a tradeshow in October. His sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and he reached out to me for guidance on how CareSync could help his loved one better manage her care. I was happy to help him out, and grateful that he had remembered our conversation. Thank you, Eric, for your thoughtful words and remembering how easy CareSync makes it to help your loved ones manage health information.
About ten years ago, my family was hit with the hard news of our father being diagnosed with diabetes. It quickly escalated to the point where he could no longer work. He was ill much of the time, and out of necessity, my sister had taken on the burden of keeping the medical records straight and up to date.
This was an important role, as they saw multiple doctors, depending on the health problem at the time, and she saw no other way to be sure the correct information was conveyed at each appointment. She quickly learned that the doctors do not want to read medical records from multiple doctors - they really just want a summary, so they can focus on the individual right then. She made that her job. On top of her real job, her family, and their hectic day-to-day life.
Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and now has health records of her own to keep track of. She has been seeing multiple doctors and, just like she manually did for our father, needs to have summaries of each visit and treatment. Compounded with taking care of our father, her job, her family, and their busy life, she became overwhelmed and discouraged at managing this for both herself and our dad.
Managing health information, whether it's figuring out how to access it, determining the best way to store it, and analyzing what's in the record and sharing it out to the people who need it is quite a burden.
She does so much for our family, and I was thrilled to have met the CareSync team at the Health 2.0 conference in October. The timing was perfect. The CareSync solution combines services and technology to collect, organize, store, and selectively share health information. All of this information is gathered and entered by the CareSync team, and each of those summaries that my sister has been so desperately trying to manage, is entered for her.
I was able to give my sister the gift of organized, complete medical records. She received a call from her CareSync representative within a few hours of setting up the account, and was requesting records within minutes of that. Her first records were sent to the CareSync team in less than 2 days, and she was able to start sharing important health information with her multiple specialists.
I love that she can be focusing her energy on fighting the cancer, and is not worrying about collecting and sharing the medical records.
So, as the clock ticks between now and Christmas, I encourage you to take a look at your family, and see who might benefit from the gift of organized health information this holiday. CareSync is priced so anybody can take control of their health information, and you can give any amount.
THANK YOU for sharing your family's story. CareSync makes a great gift for a loved one who is managing health, or taking care of someone else. Having access to that information at the point of care really changes the way you interact with your provider.
If you're still looking for a last minute Christmas gift, helping a love one take control of their medical information, while slightly alternative, is a gift that continues to give. Forever.
