A 2012 study done by the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project shows that men represent nearly 45% of all family caregivers.

That number in on the rise for a number of reasons, including the current state of our economy, changing gender expectations, and longer life expectancies.

caregiver maleAccording to a 2012 study done by Bowling Green State University, men deal with caregiver stress more successfully than women.

The study’s lead author, associate professor I-Fen Lin, stated “We found that men seem better at dealing with caregiver stress because they take a ‘block and tackle’ approach to tasks, they complete a caregiving task and move on to the next thing,”

On the other hand, the same study showed that men are pretty reluctant to ask for help. With the rise in the number of male caregivers the number of men seeking resources to help them in their journey of caregiving is trending up.

Many of us at CareSync play the role of caregiver to others, so we understand the challenges and have designed our products and services in such a way to empower those with caregiving responsibilities with information, tools for managing visits, and services that do the hard work for you.

  • The CareSync records retrieval team acts on your loved one's behalf to collect and transcribe your medical records into a single, cohesive CareSync record that you own and control. CareSync is designed to make your medical record meaningful to you and the people you take care of; data is presented in easy-to-understand visuals, and is simply shared with family, other caregivers, and providers.
  • Access to a complete medical record helps you understand the complete health story. Information equals power, afterall.  Having that information, wherever you are, allows you to be more engaged in your loved one's care, share relevant, up-to-date information with providers and other caregivers, and to avoid duplicate tests and procedures that take time, money, and energy.
  • CareSync Visit Manager™ for iPhone and Android allows you to ditch the binder, and carry a complete medical record in the palm of your hand.  Get more from each and every provider appointment with access to information, tasks & notes to manage visit goals and questions, and journals to voice record and document care plans and provicer instructions.

There are seemingly endless tools available to help make your job a little easier.  We believe it all starts with access to your loved one's complete medical information, but if you check out our Facebook page, you'll see we've "liked" a number of products, services, and other resources that we think can help you with the overwhelming job of being a caregiver.
